Geocommunity extension (component & plugin) gathers visitor information on your Joomla site and displays this information for the end user on a nice interactive Google Map.  The component allows end users to see the most recent visitors to your site, plotted on the World Map.

A user list powered by Ajax eliminates the need for page refreshes, and shows a browsable list of all visits on the site.

Easily locate the user on the World Map by clicking any user from the list. This will locate the user on the map and display information about the user.

Geocoding Services

Geocoding refers to the process of finding geographic coordinates (latitude & longitude) based on other information such as IP addresses.

Geocommunity currently supports the following Geocoding services.

  1. MaxMind GeoLite Data (Http://www.maxmind.com)

2. Hostip.info geocoding service (http://www.hostip.info)

For accurate geocoding, the component will query geolocation information first from MaxMind, and will also ask hostip.info if Maxmind was unable to geocode the request. This is a new feature on Geocommunity 2.0, and our statistics show an increase of 500% hit accuracy compared to using just one geocoding service.

Multiple geocoding services

The plugin now uses MaxMind and Hostip.info in a fallback fashion. When the plugin needs to geocode a request, it will first ask the first geocoding service, and will ask the second geocoding service if the first request was not successful.

Extensive reporting

Extensive reporting about the visitor patterns are made available from the data gathered by the plugin. Reports & charts make viewing this information easy.
